Greetings to all the members and friends of the Sierra Vista Cemetery Association!
We are pleased to announce that two new Board members have joined the Association, Dolly Peralta and Paula Mascareñas. They both bring a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm and energy to the stewardship of Sierra Vista.

New and Good at the Cemetery:
- Major grounds clean up and tree pruning has been ongoing. We purchased a large weed eater that has been a great help in keeping the weeds under control. Four large truckloads of prunings and tree limbs were removed in this Fall’s clean up alone.
- Five memorial benches have been installed around the cemetery. They add to the beauty of the grounds and also brought money into the treasury.
- There is one more bench available for purchase and we encourage anyone interested to contact Thom Wheeler. The cost including a plaque and installation is $1,500
- Dr. Kellie Harris donated over 12,000 paving bricks to the cemetery that will be used for walkways and around sitting areas. Thank you Kellie!
- The historical story board has been installed and will continue to be added to.
- The estate of renowned sculptor, Ted Egri has placed one of his sculptures at his gravesite. On May 21 the Town of Taos is planning a town wide Ted Egri day. Sierra Vista will be on the list of sites to visit to view his work.
- An informational brochure has been developed and is enclosed with this newsletter.
- Three years ago we planted seventeen new trees and a dozen lilac and Spirea all are thriving.
There are several projects that we would like to pursue in the upcoming year.
- Graveling the driveways
- Installing brick pathways
- Tree trimming
