Sierra Vista Cemetery Association 2015 Newsletter Greetings to all the members and friends of the Sierra Vista Cemetery Association! In order of occurrence: Last Spring, a new Board of Directors was formed and has been actively working to bring records up to date and institute improvements to the operation of the cemetery. The entrance sign was restored and re-hung Major grounds clean up and tree pruning has been ongoing. Fifteen trees and eight lilacs were planted. The garden house was painted and a cupola added. This Fall, the Association's non-profit status was reinstated. This is important for many reasons, particularly in seeking charitable donations and grants. Additional burial sites have been plotted in the original section of the cemetery and plots are being sold. A five thousand dollar grant was awarded by the Town of Taos for the creation of a storyboard at the cemetery that will provide information on the history of the cemetery and the notable Taos citizens that are buried there. We are seeking information from all members to bring this information forward. A Sierra Vista website and Facebook page has been created to keep people informed and seek additional information about the history of our cemetery. Three memorial benches have been purchased and will be installed this spring. Additional benches may be purchased from the Association. The goal is to have eight benches scattered throughout the cemetery for the comfort of visitors. Below is a questionnaire to help us update our records and be certain that all owners are accounted for. Please fill it out if applicable. Thank You!

To all the family and friends of the Sierra Vista Cemetery Association, we have a new Board of Directors and we are trying diligently to update our records to better serve you and maintain this beautiful place. We need your assistance in bringing our records up to date.

We are in the process of creating an historical record of the cemetery and would like to honor your family and friends that are buried there by including them in this record. Please take a moment and write a brief summary of what you would like to be included about your loved ones. If you have photos we will try to include those also.

Community Involvement

There will be a general cemetery clean up day on Saturday, Mother's Day Weekend from 9am to 3pm. Lunch will be provided. Please bring your own clippers and rakes etc.
